DF Youth League Empowers Young Leaders Through Induction Training

July 29, 20250

In a bid to nurture the next generation of leaders, the Democratic Front (DF) Youth League launched weekly induction training for young women and men.

Held on July 24, 2025 at the DF headquarters in Namirembe, the training revealed the party’s commitment to mentorship and youth empowerment.

The training brought together young people from almost all political parties, showcasing the DF’s dedication to unity and inclusivity. The event featured keynote speakers from the media industry, who shared their expertise on public speaking and media navigation with budding leaders.

The overarching objective of the training was to equip young leaders with the skills and confidence to effectively communicate their message to the public.

During the training, participants were tipped on how to be confident in their public speaking, including knowing what to speak, when, where, and how.

They were also advised on how to equip themselves with researched information prior to media appearances, and how to navigate the complex political landscape, and the training emphasized the importance of understanding what the public expects from the DF, and vice versa.

The young leaders were also taught how to approach adversaries and counterattack in a constructive manner.

To achieve this, they were encouraged to familiarize themselves with the DF’s policies, packages, and unique character.

The party’s character, which embodies resilience, integrity, and progressive thinking, was highlighted as a key aspect of its identity.

The DF’s character is rooted in the spirit of unity, inclusivity, and a steadfast commitment to anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist principles.

The party prioritizes national sovereignty, social equity, and ecological sustainability, and is dedicated to peaceful reform, constructive dialogue, and community-driven empowerment.

The induction training was a direct implementation of DF President Mathias Mpuuga’s commitment to mentoring young people.

In his diagnosis of the leadership crisis facing Uganda, President Mpuuga prescribed the solution as lying in youth mentorship, thus pledging devotion of ample time on mentoring young people, who he believes are at risk of being wasted away in the petty politics of the day.

We stand firm in our call for the decolonization of political institutions, acknowledging that the legacy of colonialism continues to shape power relations and governance structures in ways that limit the full expression of our sovereignty.
