In a powerful display of unity, and determination, MP Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa has once again captured the spotlight, this time as the Democratic Front’s (DF) official nominee for the Entebbe Municipality parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2026 elections.
The seasoned politician who is also the DF’s whip in Parliament returned his expression of interest forms on August 4, 2025, amid an electrifying atmosphere at the DF headquarters in Namirembe, where supporters rallied behind him, igniting hope for a promising political future.

DF President Mathias Mpuuga lauded Kakembo as a “special leader,” elevating his status, and underlining the immense trust that the party places in the legislator.
Mpuuga asserted that Kakembo embodies the vision needed to navigate these critical times, emphasizing, “these challenges require leaders who can perceive threats beyond mere self-interest.”
His endorsement signals a powerful recognition of Kakembo’s leadership qualities at a time when the nation needs it most.
The DF President’s presence lent a weight of worth to Kakembo’s nomination.
“I had never come around to receive one of us in a special way,” Mpuuga remarked, reinforcing the trust, and faith that the party holds in Kakembo’s leadership.
He further encouraged Kakembo to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence, urging him to establish a leader in every sub-county within Entebbe Municipality as part of efforts to revitalize the nation.
Kakembo, radiating confidence, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the people of Entebbe. Surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, he asserted, “I feel capable of winning the race again because I am a born resident of Entebbe Municipality… they are going to vote for their son.”
His deep connection to the constituency, honed over years of service, reinforces his belief that he can secure their support once more.
The incumbent MP views his re-election not just as a personal victory but as an opportunity to continue serving his constituents effectively.
“If I have been able to serve them well in just four years of learning the job, how about if I get a second term?” he pondered, showcasing his dedication to understanding, and addressing the needs of his community even further.
Addressing concerns about competition from the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kakembo remained unfazed, noting their long-standing rivalry in Entebbe.
“We have always competed against them, and I’m confident in what we bring to the table,” he stated resolutely, ready to face the diverse field of candidates that will contest in the forthcoming elections.
