Mpuuga Tells Busoga To Vote DF For Solutions To Community Problems Not Lamentations

In a passionate appeal to the people of Busoga sub-region, Mathias Mpuuga, the president of the Democratic Front (DF), called for support for the party’s candidates, emphasizing that they offer tangible solutions to community issues rather than dwelling on lamentations.

His rallying call came on December 31, 2025, during a one-day presidential caravan that brought together party candidates to engage with voters across various districts within Busoga sub-region.

Mpuuga, accompanied by party whip in Parliament, Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa (Ntebbe Municipality), and the national legal advisor Sulaiman Kakaire, addressed enthusiastic supporters in Kigulu North (Iganga district), Bunya West (Mayuge district), and Luuka South (Luuka district). In Bunya West, the DF’s flag bearer is Mugalula Ashraf, while Hajji Yonus Lutakoome Kayanja is aspiring for Luuka South, and Stanley Mukisa is the candidate for Kigulu North.

“Invariably, that is why our candidates have been well received. The issues in Busoga are issues in the purview of the right thinking candidates, and our candidates have been able to articulate solutions because we are not necessarily lamenting about the problems,” Mpuuga stated.

He spoke about the party’s approach of providing legislative solutions and reforms to tackle deep-rooted community challenges.

He further elaborated, “I contend that these issues we shall be able to tackle, especially the terrible poverty in communities, the terrible roads, and the visible unemployment in the communities both rural and urban. These require wide-ranging solutions, including both short-term and long-term strategies, which have been deeply articulated.”

Mpuuga stressed that the DF candidates genuinely understand and address the concerns of the community.

Mpuuga also urged the voters to recognize the importance of skilled representation in Parliament, stating, “In Parliament, it is not about body muscles; it needs those with brains to articulate issues, and it should be a battle of ideas.” This statement resonated with the crowd, as he urged voters to choose candidates capable of fostering real change in their lives.

During the rally, Mugalula Ashraf took the opportunity to connect with the electorate, promising a service-oriented leadership if elected. “I am seeking your support to go to Parliament and offer leadership which has not been the case in this constituency for the last 15 years because our MP has never uttered even a single word in Parliament,” he said.

He committed to consulting with constituents on critical issues and effectively communicating their concerns in English during Parliamentary sessions.

Hajji Yonus Lutakoome Kakande echoed this sentiment, expressing his passion for serving his community. “I am the leader who will go to Parliament and articulate issues which would change our area for the betterment of all,” he claimed confidently, rallying his supporters with the assurance of a more vibrant future for the coming Parliament.

Micheal Kakembo, the DF whip in Parliament, encouraged voters to support all DF candidates, reinforcing their commitment to the local community. “They love their people and the constituencies they seek to represent, unlike those who only visit their constituencies once in a while,” he stated, highlighting the party’s dedication to genuine engagement with constituents.

As the caravan made its way through the sub-region, the enthusiasm of the supporters was overt. The reception Mpuuga and his delegation received reflected a growing optimism for the new political force that DF represents in Ugandan politics now.

The party’s structured approach and focus on actionable solutions seem to be resonating with an electorate eager for change which has worked well in shifting the public perception and garner support at both Parliamentary and local government levels.

We stand firm in our call for the decolonization of political institutions, acknowledging that the legacy of colonialism continues to shape power relations and governance structures in ways that limit the full expression of our sovereignty.
