DF President Mpuuga Announces Bid For Nyendo-Mukungwe Seat

October 7, 20250

In a major move for to maintain political hygiene  of Nyendo-Mukungwe, Democratic Front (DF) President Mathias Mpuuga officially declared his intention to retain for the parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.

The announcement was made on October 5, 2025, during a dialogue with key stakeholders in the constituency, where Mpuuga’s decision reflects both a strategic choice and a commitment to his constituents, following a period of speculation regarding his political future.

For several months, Mpuuga had kept both supporters and political adversaries guessing about his next steps.

His cautious approach culminated in an announcement that followed directives from the DF’s top governing body, the National Council.

On September 20, 2025, the Council resolved not to field a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections without necessary electoral reforms, a directive that weighed heavily on Mpuuga’s deliberations.

“When we sat in the National Council of the DF, I was directed not to stand for presidency this time because they will make the DF a scapegoat,” Mpuuga explained to the eager audience of constituents.

This directive illustrated the party’s position regarding the electoral process, which they deem flawed and biased toward certain candidates.

The resolution passed by the DF National Council articulated their concerns about the presidential elections since 1996, describing them as a “mere ritual with pre-determined results.”

“To participate without addressing the flaws would be to lend credibility to a sham process,” the DF’s statement issued shortly after the National Council read.

Hence, the party’s focus shifted towards strengthening local leadership as a means to prepare for potential future changes.

Mpuuga highlighted the importance of his role in Nyendo-Mukungwe: “But surprisingly, even when we announced that I was not standing for presidency, they started asking why you haven’t stood? Standing for presidency is not an event.”

With conviction, he assured his audience, “Let me assure you on this, with God’s providence of life to me, it will also be achieved and we shall move together.”

His confidence in his capabilities as a leader was evident as he addressed concerns about his absence from presidential contention.

Addressing the naysayers, Mpuuga stated, “They have been asking me, why don’t you pin up posters? Posters are not the most important issue, the person who leads is the major issue. If you do not know Mpuuga and you have never heard about him, you have no business in Nyendo.”

Emphasizing the need for effective leadership, Mpuuga declared, “Every society must have its leader in every generation, and the people without firm leaders, they get dispersed.” He articulated his vision for the future, assuring constituents that he would remain a guiding force for Nyendo-Mukungwe and the greater Masaka at large in the coming years.
