On September 18, 2025, the Democratic Front (DF) Electoral Commission, chaired by Henry Lubowa, held a nomination exercise at the party headquarters in Namirembe.

During this event, the commission received expressions of interest from female members of the party who are eager to represent their constituencies in the upcoming elections.

Among them were Adelaide Nakitende, nominated as the aspiring Kampala district woman member of parliament, and Fatumah Nansubuga, who will contest for the Kawempe South MP seat.

Additionally, Hussein Kasule emerged as an aspiring candidate for the LCIII Chairperson position in Wakiso.

Following her nomination, Adelaide Nakitende shared her strong belief that the people of Kampala have endured years of inadequate representation.

She expressed her determination to be a voice for the residents, pledging to address the challenges they face.

Nakitende feels confident that her leadership will provide the much-needed solutions to improve conditions for the citizens of Kampala.

Fatumah Nansubuga, who previously served as an activist with the NUP party before joining DF, also voiced her aspirations following her nomination.

She emphasized the urgent need for a shift in political approaches, arguing that the nation must move beyond excitement-driven politics.

Instead, she advocates for a focus on reason and core issues that truly impact the lives of the people, demonstrating her commitment to a government that prioritizes rational decision-making.

The nomination of both candidates signifies a strategic step for the Democratic Front as it looks to strengthen its presence in the capital city.

The enthusiasm shown by Nakitende and Nansubuga highlights the party’s dedication to empowering women in leadership roles.

Their nominations are expected to galvanize support from constituents eager for change and effective representation.

With Hussein Kasule also aspiring for the LCIII Chairperson position in Wakiso, the party continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding its leadership base.

We stand firm in our call for the decolonization of political institutions, acknowledging that the legacy of colonialism continues to shape power relations and governance structures in ways that limit the full expression of our sovereignty.
