DF Continues To Attract Seasoned Politicians As Ex-Aruu MP Aciro Joins

August 27, 20250

In an extraordinary show of political energy, the Democratic Front (DF) continues to grow its ranks with the newest addition of former Aruu MP, Lucy Aciro.

Aciro, who served as an independent member of the 10th Parliament, was warmly welcomed by DF President Mathias Mpuuga at the party headquarters in Namirembe on August 27, 2025. Her decision to join DF underscores the party’s rising influence, and ability to draw seasoned politicians from across the political spectrum, setting it apart from other opposition parties.

Before Aciro’s arrival, President Mpuuga engaged in constructive dialogue with Odongo Mike, the current Ngora LCV chairperson who recently switched allegiance from the ruling NRM party. During their meeting, discussions focused on strategy, and future aspirations, as Odongo has already sought DF’s nomination to contest for his seat again under the party banner.

This growing alliance showcases DF’s appeal to politicians looking for a fresh start, and a platform to effect meaningful change.

Upon her reception into the DF, Aciro expressed her excitement, and commitment to the party’s vision, stating,”I am honored to join the Democratic Front, where I truly believe we can make a difference.”

Aciro pledged to carry the party’s flag in the upcoming 2026 elections, asserting her determination to fight for the interests of Pader District, and elevate the voices of women in politics.

Her endorsement of the hardly four-months-old party serves as a rallying cry for other aspiring leaders to consider joining DF.

Accompanying Aciro at the party headquarters was Lilian Owio, another aspiring Member of Parliament who is set to contest for the West Moyo seat on the DF flag.

Owio’s inclusion in the party, speaks to the DF’s dedication to empowering women, and fostering diverse representation in government.

Both women are committed to securing victory for the DF in the forthcoming elections, energizing the party’s grassroots efforts across various districts.

The DF’s steady influx of new members, including prominent figures like Aciro, and Odongo, indicates a growing dissatisfaction with traditional political parties that often rely on scavenging politicians from the opposition.

DF’s ability to attract candidates from different corners of the political arena resonates with voters seeking genuine leadership, and integrity.

As the 2026 elections approach, the Democratic Front is poised to capitalize on this momentum, uniting experienced political figures under one banner, and the road ahead promises to be dynamic, as DF continues to champion inclusivity, and harness the power of new voices in Ugandan politics.
