In a strong rallying call for unity and leadership, Democratic Front (DF) party President Mathias Mpuuga addressed a massive crowd at the Kyabakuza trading center of Kimaanya-Kabonera Division in Masaka City on November 19, 2025.
His message on a public campaign rally organized by DF MPs Dr. Abed Bwanika (Kimaanya-Kabonera), and Masaka City Woman MP Juliet Nakabuye Kakande, focused on the need for Ugandans to trust DF candidates and support their vision for disciplined service delivery.
Mpuuga’s speech resonated with the enthusiastic crowd, who gave the DF party entourage a warm and triumphant welcome.
During the event, Mpuuga emphasized the importance of reconciliatory leadership.
He invoked a powerful analogy, noting, “If an Israeli can sit with a Judah to negotiate for the sake of the lives of the prisoners, why don’t we fight for our people kept in prisons?”
The DF president highlighted the ongoing struggles of political prisoners, including notable figures like Dr. Kizza Besigye of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) who has spent a year in prison alongside his co-accused Hajji Obeid Lutale without trial by the State.
Mpuuga stressed that true leadership must be willing to engage in dialogue, even with rivals, to ensure the safety and rights of all citizens.
The Masaka city MPs also took the stage to highlight their contributions to the community during their ongoing tenures in the legislature offices.
Bwanika, the representative for Kimaanya-Kabonera, proudly mentioned the accomplishments achieved during his tenure.
He cited the completion of new roads and infrastructure projects, stating, “We have got all the tamarked roads we lobbied from the central government using our positions as MPs.”
He specifically mentioned Luteete-Kabukolwa road, Kitanga-Kyanvubu road, and Kirinya-Ssetaala road.
His words echoed the work done for the residents, reinforcing the message of accountability and results-oriented leadership.
Masaka City Woman MP Kakande also addressed the crowd, underlining the tangible support provided to the community. She listed the distribution of agricultural tools and seedlings aimed at enhancing financial empowerment among constituents. “We have doled out hand hoes, we have given you coffee seedlings, we have given you piglets, etc, and we have made vast contributions in improving the education sector through building and repairing of the schools”
Kakande shared, reminding voters of the DF’s commitment to their welfare. Her comments aimed to reassure the audience that the DF is focused on practical solutions that directly benefit the people.
Honourable Fred Ssimbwa Kaggwa, the Nakifuma MP (DF), urged the people of Kimaanya-Kabonera and Masaka City to maintain their support for the DF candidates.
He stressed the importance of teamwork among the MPs, saying, “It has helped them to pull into one side to the development of the new city.”
This call for unity resonated with many in attendance, reinforcing the notion that collaboration leads to progress.
Finally, Aidah Nakuya, the DF candidate for Kampala Central, encouraged voters to be discerning in their choices at the polls, warning them against being misled, urging constituents to remain focused on capable leadership that genuinely aims to uplift the community.
Her message concluded a powerful rally that left constituents energized and optimistic about the future of their leadership under the DF banner.
