DF Unveils Agenda As Official Campaigns Start

November 10, 20250

The Democratic Forum (DF) has unveiled its strategic agenda for the nation as the party officials launched the national campaign for the Parliamentary and Local Government for all the candidates from Masaka City’s Kimaanya-Kabonera division on November 10, 2025.

DF president Mathias Mpuuga who announced the agenda, emphasized that the party’s mission is to persuade voters to support their candidates based on their proven commitment to addressing the needs of the people.

Mpuuga, speaking ahead of the official launch, declared, “I will not move round Nyendo-Mukungwe, but I will crisscross the entire country to canvas for support which will help our candidates to win in the interest of getting strong and voices of reason in Parliament.”

His commitment to reaching out beyond local boundaries underscores the urgency and importance of securing robust leadership within the legislature.

Critical issues dominate the DF agenda, with Mpuuga articulating the party’s vision for reform. “We need voices which will fight for the critical issues which were blocked like the electoral reforms, transition, and reconciliation,” he stressed.

He voiced a sense of urgency for these issues, suggesting that their neglect has stymied progress within the opposition and made it seem ineffective.

“Those are critical issues which have clogged the opposition to the extent of appearing brainless whereas we have brains,” he added, insisting on the need for informed representatives.

Thus, the party has outlined three main issues that it intends to bring to the forefront of the national discourse.

Mpuuga noted, “We have already tabled 8 bills around the Presidential Elections (amendment) bill, Constitutional amendment bill, the Parliamentary Amendment bill, and reduction of MPs’ numbers, amending the constitution of the Electoral Commission.”

He highlighted the necessity of discussing the devolution of power and equitable sharing of national resources, asserting that any candidate neglecting these themes is not worth the electorate’s time.

The DF leader expressed confidence in the party’s agenda, asserting, “Our agenda as DF is already in public domain and I have not met any civil person faulting it.”

He revealed that while some critics had dismissed these reforms as belated, the party is prepared to move forward, stating, “So, we are starting with them in 2026, and by the end of that term, the country will have a new face of new ideas including the right approach to governance.”

DF MPs Hailed

The momentum is bolstered by the presence of firm representatives, Dr. Abed Bwanika and Nakabuye Juliet Kakande, who epitomize this dedication, according to Mpuuga who took a moment to commend the DF members of Parliament for their exemplary service to the people.

“These two have been very able servants and very good representation of our people in Masaka City. They have helped to shape political discourse, and they have been able to shape the way MPs serve.”

He encouraged constituents to observe the impactful work of Bwanika and Kakande, indicating that they serve as model representatives for others to emulate.

The launching event for the DF campaign in Kimaanya-Kabonera drew momentous attention, with Mpuuga stating, “I am excited to begin this campaign today for our Parliamentary candidates to which I am a part, and Local Government candidates.”

Looking ahead, Mpuuga revealed his personal campaign launch date, stating, “Personally, I will start my campaign on Friday [November 14] this week, at Kasana Playground…”

This proclamation signals the beginning of a concerted effort by the DF to mobilize support and energize its base as they approach a crucial period in the political calendar.

We stand firm in our call for the decolonization of political institutions, acknowledging that the legacy of colonialism continues to shape power relations and governance structures in ways that limit the full expression of our sovereignty.
