The vibrant city of Masaka is abuzz with excitement as residents warmly embrace the arrival of the Democratic Front (DF) political party, led by their political hero Mathias Mpuuga.
In a spirited campaign to sell DF’s ideology, Mpuuga has been diligently engaging with the community through contact meetings across 14 parishes, including Nyendo, Katwe, Senyange, and Kalagala.
Other parishes which have bought into the DF ideology are; Bulayi, Samaria, Kirowooza, Kasanje, Bulando, Butego, Bugabira, Matanga, etc.
The enthusiasm of the people is clear as they rally behind the party, heralding it as a beacon of hope for civil governance and leadership hygiene in the country, and at each stop, the presence of the DF team is nothing short of thrilling.
Community members all gather in large numbers, welcoming Mpuuga and his team comprised of Masaka City Woman MP Juliet Nakabuye Kakande, Kimaanya-Kabobera MP Dr. Abed Bwanika, Nyendo-Mukungwe mayor Micheal Nakumusana who is an aspiring Masaka City Mayor with open arms.
Residents have expressed their commitment to support the party’s mission, encouraging Mpuuga to take bold steps toward establishing a strong political foundation to support its posterity stay.
They believe that the DF can restore the political integrity that has been lacking in the wider country’s DNA.
Imaam Ramadhan Kafeero, a respected Muslim cleric overseeing two traditional mosques in the area, highlighted the positive direction Mpuuga took as the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament (LoP) which he said, vanished with his departure from the office.
He attributed notable successes in the opposition to Mpuuga’s leadership, which he views as an essential part of Masaka’s identity.
Kafeero thanked God for separating Mpuuga from a leading opposition party that, in his view, could have hindered the progress of their “good son.”
Residents have voiced their optimism for the future under the leadership of Mpuuga, praising him for being calm, composed, and a unifier.
They thus took it upon themselves to support the party financially, recognizing the daunting challenge ahead in both establishing the DF and participating in the elections.
Their commitment underscores a strong community bond and a shared vision for a prosperous nation starting from Masaka.
The decision by the DF to forgo presenting a presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections was met with appreciation by residents who expressed good understanding that the choice reflected a strategic approach toward building a solid organizational foundation for the party.
They thus affirmed their trust that this preparation will ultimately strengthen the party’s future prospects.
The overwhelming consensus is that Mpuuga’s voice is essential for the progression of Masaka City in the next Parliament.
The community appreciated the need for a leader who can advocate for their interests while promoting the DF’s positive ideology without succumbing to external pressures, and residents’ determination to have Mpuuga represent them again highlight a shared hope for a better tomorrow.
In response to the resounding support, Mpuuga, accompanied by prominent DF figures, pledged to serve the people of Masaka City without discrimination.
He reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the community during his tenure as the Nyendo-Mukungwe representative, as the party strategically prepares for future leadership roles.
The general acceptance of the DF in Masaka signals a new era of collective empowerment and community-driven leadership.
