DF President Mpuuga Honors Acholi Culture With Courtesy Visit To Paramount Chief

The Democratic Front (DF) President Mathias Mpuuga made a noteworthy courtesy visit to the palace of Acholi Paramount Chief David Onen II in Gulu City.

Demonstrating the Party’s commitment to fostering strong ties with cultural leaders and addressing, and addressing collective development goals for the Acholi community, the courtesy visit happened on August 29, 2025.

To accompany him, were the notable figures at the DF comprised of Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, the National Chairman, Micheal Mabike, the Secretary General, and deputy president Pascal Amuriat, and Kevin Okumu in charge of Eastern and Northern Uganda, respectively, Mubarak Kawooya, the Head of the Entrepreneurs League.

Also in the DF delegation was John Mark Mukisa, the deputy national treasurer, and Lucy Aciro, Lucy Aciro, a former Aruu North MP who is vying for the woman MP seat in Pader District under the DF banner.

At the palace, the cultural institution’s Deputy Prime Minister for Investment, Martin Okumu, alongside the Paramount Chief’s Personal Assistant, John Okello Samuel, welcomed the DF delegation.

They engaged in meaningful discussions that centered on the institution’s development, and the broader socio-economic challenges facing the Acholi people and the nation.

Okumu expressed appreciation for the DF president’s visit, labeling it as a proactive step towards collaboration for the betterment of the community.

He reiterated the cultural institution’s open-door policy, encouraging partnerships aimed at enhancing the welfare of the Acholi people while honoring their cultural heritage.

Responding to the warm welcome, President Mpuuga acknowledged the cultural institution’s role in community development, and pledged the party’s earnest commitment to collaborate closely with the institution.

He emphasized the importance of working together in the political, social, and economic arenas to uplift the Acholi region, and preserve its rich cultural identity.
