The Democratic Front (DF) has set its nomination fees for various political positions, aiming to promote inclusive participation in the electoral process.
The party’s fees are designed to be affordable, with the lowest fees in the country, to encourage young people, women, and grassroots leaders to participate.
In the DF’s fees structure outed by the Secretary General Michael Mabikke, aspiring LC I chairpersons do not pay any fees, while LC III councilors pay a mere Shs10, 000.
LC IV (district councilors) and municipality councilors pay Shs20, 000, while municipality mayors pay Shs50, 000.
City mayors and district chairpersons pay Shs100, 000, members of parliament pay Shs150, 000, and presidential aspirants pay Shs500, 000.
The DF’s decision to set low nomination fees is in line with its objective of promoting transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process.
By making it affordable for all citizens to participate, the party aims to field strong candidates who represent the interests of the people.
The transparent fee structure is a demonstration to the party’s commitment to openness and accountability. Unlike other parties, the DF’s fees are openly set, allowing aspirants to plan and prepare for the nomination process.
The DF’s approach to nomination fees is a noteworthy departure from the norm, where high fees often bar talented and deserving individuals from participating in the electoral process.
